What 2025 Revealed About Me—And How I’m Setting Boundaries for 2026

Every December, I love to pause before the new year rush begins. I come into my office early—before emails, before tasks, before the world gets loud—and I sit with the Lord to reflect.

This year, I pulled out a simple framework I used to teach clients back in 2023. And honestly? It still works. It gives you clarity, peace, and a grounded sense of direction without the pressure of “New Year’s resolutions.”

It’s a four-part sentence:

2025 was ________ for me.
From that, I learned ________.
As 2026 begins, my intent is ________.
And in order to do that, I will ________.

This reflection is powerful because it helps you look at the highs, the lows, the lessons, and the invitations from God—all in one gentle, honest moment.

Let me share mine with you.

2025 Was a Year of Learning to Trust God and the People Around Me

If you know me, you know this is a big statement.

I’m usually the leader, the one who’s “fine,” the one who doesn’t show vulnerability. I carry a lot, I manage a lot, and I tend to keep moving.

But in 2025, God invited me to slow down and trust—Him and others.

I learned to:

  • Let my guard down

  • Let people in

  • Be human, present, honest

  • Let others see me cry

  • Stop carrying everything alone

And the most beautiful part?

Trust didn’t make me weak—it freed me.

It created deeper intimacy, deeper connection, and deeper peace. If you tend to lead like I do, you know how big this is. Leaders often hide their weaknesses, but people need to know we’re human too.

As 2026 Begins, My Intent Is to Be More Intentional With My Time

Intentionality is the word sitting heavily (and lovingly) on my heart.

The “tyranny of the urgent” can run our lives if we let it. I’ve learned that not everything is urgent, even if it feels urgent. Some things only feel urgent because we’re overwhelmed or because we’ve taught ourselves to respond instantly.

But urgency doesn’t always equal importance.

So for 2026, my desire is simple:

I want to be intentional about where my time is going.

To do this, I’m placing two clear boundaries:

1. Boundaries Around My Calendar

I need to know what “hat” I’m wearing in each block of my day:

  • When I’m a therapist

  • When I’m Mom

  • When I’m a CEO

  • When I’m simply me—hiking, resting, relaxing

  • When it’s God’s time

When everything gets mushed together, everything feels urgent. When the calendar is clear and intentional, I can focus better and be fully present.

2. Boundaries Around My Laptop

This one hits close to home.

I’m notorious for sitting on the couch, opening up my laptop, and “checking something real quick.” You might relate.

Presence requires discipline. And sometimes discipline means closing the laptop, putting the phone across the room, or even removing email from your phone completely.

So I’m asking myself:
Do I really need this screen right now?
Or do I need to be present to the people God has placed in front of me?

For me, the answer in 2026 is presence.

Forget Resolutions—Focus on Rhythms

Resolutions fade.
Habits endure.
Rhythms sustain.

If there’s a goal you want to accomplish in 2026—whether in business, leadership, health, or family—the question isn’t:

“What’s my resolution?”

It’s:

“What rhythms and boundaries will support that intention?”

For me, the rhythms are:

  • Intentional blocks on my calendar

  • Limiting laptop time

  • Less reacting, more choosing

  • More being present than being busy

These rhythms will help me stay grounded, connected to God, and emotionally healthy.

Your Turn: What Did 2025 Teach You?

Take a moment and fill in your own reflection:

2025 was ________ for me.
From that, I learned ________.
As 2026 begins, my intent is ________.
And in order to do that, I will ________.

What do you want more of next year?
Peace? Clarity? Confidence? Presence?
What boundary or rhythm would support that?

Feel free to email me, share with me, or send a DM. I would love to hear what God is showing you.

A Prayer as You Step Into 2026

Lord, for everyone reading this…
Help them reflect gently on what You taught them in 2025.
Remove self-criticism and replace it with clarity and compassion.
Reveal what needs to be embraced and what needs to be released.
Guide their calendars, their businesses, their families, and their hearts.
Lead them into 2026 with Your peace, Your presence, and Your wisdom.
We lay it all down before You.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
