There are seasons in our lives that we never want to end.
They have been meaningful. They have been fruitful. They have shaped us.
And sometimes, they have become part of our identity.
But what happens when God asks us to let one of those seasons go?
As a Christian entrepreneur, I've had to wrestle with that question personally.
For the past few years, The Abiding CEO® has been a passion project and an assignment I genuinely felt led to share. I've been incredibly grateful for everyone who listened, followed, engaged, and even reached out to me outside of the platform.
But recently, I found myself praying a different kind of prayer.
“Lord, what do I do?”
My mental health practice in Georgia is growing. I'm stepping into more speaking engagements. There are opportunities and ideas on the horizon that require my attention.
And I began asking myself: How is all of this going to work?
The answer I sensed was difficult but peaceful.
The season for The Abiding CEO® is over, or it's going to look different.
And I've had to learn that something ending doesn't mean it wasn't successful.
A Season Can Be Fruitful and Still Be Finished
We sometimes assume that if something is working, we should keep doing it.
But fruitfulness doesn't necessarily mean permanence.
There are assignments God gives us for a particular season.
The Abiding CEO® has taught me so much. I've learned about speaking, content creation, branding, business, leadership, and most importantly, about showing up and sharing what God has placed on my heart.
But I also believe that God uses every experience to prepare us for what comes next.
One of the Scriptures that came to mind during this season was:
“Every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.”
Pruning isn't punishment. It's preparation.
Sometimes God removes something good because He has something different that requires our attention.
The Importance of a Healthy Goodbye
I could have simply disappeared.
I've done this before. Life gets busy. The business grows. Other responsibilities take over.
But that didn't feel right this time.
I've spent years talking about attachment, relationships, secure attachment, anxious attachment, avoidant attachment, and the importance of healthy connection.
So how could I simply shut down a community without explaining?
That would not feel like a secure goodbye.
Sometimes a healthy goodbye is necessary.
Think about losing an employee you love. Relocating. Losing someone you care about. Ending a friendship. Closing a business chapter.
Change happens.
People change.
Our responsibilities change.
And sometimes our assignments change.
A healthy goodbye allows us to acknowledge what was, grieve what is ending, and still remain hopeful about what comes next.
What Are You Holding Onto?
This experience has also made me think about the things we hold onto simply because they are familiar.
Is there a relationship God is asking you to release?
A role?
A business idea?
A responsibility?
A version of yourself?
A season that has already accomplished what it was meant to accomplish?
Not everything needs to come with us into the next chapter.
And that doesn't mean it was bad.
It may simply mean it was for then, not now.
That's an important distinction.
Trusting God's Track Record
I'm able to release this season because I've seen God's faithfulness before.
The last time God asked me to shut something down, He presented me with something better shortly afterward.
Does that mean I know exactly what's coming next?
No.
I'm not saying that because The Abiding CEO® is ending, something spectacular will suddenly appear next month.
Maybe it will.
Maybe it won't.
What I know is that God is asking for my attention.
And I trust His track record.
That's what abiding means to me.
It's not about maintaining a particular platform forever.
It's about remaining connected to the Vine wherever He leads me.
You Are Allowed to Let Go
If you're a Christian entrepreneur in a season of transition, I want to give you permission to consider something:
You are allowed to let go.
You are allowed to acknowledge that a season has ended.
You are allowed to grieve it.
You are allowed to be grateful for what it taught you.
And you are allowed to move forward without having every detail figured out.
Sometimes holding onto something simply because it once worked can fracture your focus.
And sometimes obedience looks less like building something new and more like releasing something old.
I'm stepping away from The Abiding CEO® with gratitude, not regret.
The conversations mattered.
The people mattered.
The lessons mattered.
And I believe God will use all of it.
The podcast may be ending, but abiding isn't.
Because for me, abiding isn't a platform.
It's a way of life.
And I pray it becomes the same for you.
So here's the question I want to leave with you:
Is there a season you're holding onto that God may be asking you to release?
Pause. Pray. Reflect.
And trust Him with what comes next.
Because sometimes a goodbye isn't the end of the story.
Sometimes it's the beginning of the next assignment.
